Hawaiian Clubhouse

This is the meeting place for the Hawaiian Beach Club in San Onfre. The wind indicator is a longboard with an American flag. Wetsuits, boards, picnic baskets and warm water make it a fun location to hang out, meet the locals and paint. 12 x 12"

Old Fashioned Lifeguard Tower

I have painted this particular tower several times. It sits next to some railroad tracks, a pier, and is constructed differently than most. The color scheme has earthtones and I can paint it from a grassy area looking down on it. 12 x 12"

Remembering A Friend

I have been fortunate to have crossed paths with some creative and wonderful friends. Last week I lost two, Dave Jonas and Stew Birbrower. I spent a week painting in their honor and this piece was intended to create a feeling of loss by having a single figure on her knees watching the ocean. Flowers in the foreground celebrate their lives.

Circus Nick

Circus Nick is from Hawthorne and was on hand to greet me as I painted the entrance of the 2014 Circus Vargas...8x10" oil on canvas. It is a challenge to get atmospheric perspective into a bright circus painting. Everything wants to come forward.

Circus Vargas Is In Town

Another overcast June morning and the circus is in town. Both of these are 8 x10" oil on canvas board. It is always fun to meet the performers and capture the bright colors and way the tent sits in the Ventura landscape.
